Women's Ministry article by Holly Kufahl

“I love God and I want to do his will, but there’s something holding me back. It seems that my life is always an uphill battle. I try and try, but I get discouraged and I feel defeated.” (Becoming a Woman Freedom by Cynthia Heald)  Hebrews 2:1 says, “Let us throw off everything that hinders us and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us...” When I think of this verse two pictures come to mind. One is seeing an eagle flying freely over the mountains enjoying his flight. The other is feeling the wind whip through your hair as your horse gallops across the pasture. Oh how we wish to run our race through life feeling this free. One of our women’s ministry’s goals is to put aside the different weights and hindrances that burden us and experience together the freedom the Lord longs for us to enjoy.

We are really excited about the growth of our women’s ministry. We had a great retreat last fall with 40 women attending. We had a wonderful experience at Cave Springs Retreat Center. We enjoyed our time with our speaker, Jen Hutchinson and with God. No one wanted it to end. Afterwards we started a women’s group that meets monthly. Our goal is to create an atmosphere that is authentic, to deal with real life issues. We spend time hanging out and talking about our day to day life. We strive to find ways to comfort and relate to one another. We have women of all ages attend. Holly Kufahl leads the Bible study and there is a time of prayer and prayer requests. We have a Core Leadership group that meets and plans activities and prays for the women of our church regularly.

We meet every 1st Thursday of the month at 6:30. We eat snacks, chat, and have a bible study. This all takes place at Michele Davis’s home. Call Holly for any questions at 620-687-4339.

We also have a Tuesday evening low impact workout at the church. The class meets from 6:30 -7:30, with Alisha Webb coordinating. She can be reached at 785-844-2316.

Ladies, please come try us out. We would love to hang out with you.
